The beaches, countryside and forests of Mayotte are home to an invaluable biodiversity including one of the most remarkable and beautiful trees in the plant world: the Baobab (Mbuyu).
Baobab rhymes with Madagascar, home to six species unique in the world. And yet, Mayotte has the originality of housing two species of Baobabs while only one is present throughout the African continent. It is the second thest territory in the world in terms of wealth for the Baobabs.
Dressed, elegant, and masterful, these are the most impressive trees on our island. Through a walk along two beautiful beaches: neither N'Gouja or Sakouli, I propose to go to meet these sumptuous axles.
From their starting point to today, we will discuss their origin, their adaptation, their biology, the beliefs and uses of here and elsewhere... an invitation to discover from every angle the most majestic tree in the Mahorese forest.
